About Us
Pearl City Popcorn began in the spring of 2017 serving Kettle and Caramel corn to people onsite at events all around Iowa. By the summer of 2019, we opened our first full-service gourmet popcorn and ice cream shop in downtown Muscatine, IA. Popcorn has long been our family’s business, dating back more than a decade. That is where we developed a love for this sweet and salty treat.
Our Story
Popcorn has been a part of our family for a long time. We fell in love with this sweet and salty treat while helping my mother and stepfather Vicky Haynes and Dan Morrell with their popcorn business.
Over the years we had thought about starting our own popcorn business and in 2016, Vicky and Dan decided to retire. With an offered gift of an old kettle lovingly named “Old Nasty!” because of the hot napalm like kernels of kettle corn that often flew out, Pearl City Popcorn was born.
In the spring of 2017, we started selling sweet and salty kettle corn at markets, festivals, and events around Iowa. With creative gourmet popcorn ideas flowing, we were always wanting to offer more. We always felt that Muscatine was missing a gourmet snack shop. We dreamed of offering sweet and salty snacks made from the best, locally sourced ingredients. In the spring of 2019 we opened our first location in historic downtown Muscatine. Starting with just five flavors of popcorn and hard scooped ice cream. We now have more than 19 gourmet flavors of popcorn and are looking at opening a second location.
